London, April 9: North London club Arsenal has received a significant boost ahead of their upcoming Premier League match against Bournemouth. Top player Eberechi Eje has returned to training. The match will take place at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
Eberechi Eje was named Arsenal’s ‘Player of the Month’ for March but had been sidelined due to injury in recent weeks. He sustained a calf injury following the victory over Bayer Leverkusen.
During Eje’s absence, the team played three matches, including a loss to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final and a narrow win against Sporting CP in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.
On Thursday, Eje was seen back with the team during a training session at the Shobha Realty Training Center, indicating that he may be available for selection when Arsenal hosts Bournemouth this weekend.
The 27-year-old’s return is expected to alleviate some of Arsenal’s challenges, especially with captain Martin Ødegaard not fully fit. Ødegaard recently suffered a minor injury during the victory over Sporting, and he is likely to miss the next match against Bournemouth.
Meanwhile, several first-team players, including Bukayo Saka, Jurien Timber, and Ricardo Calafiori, were absent from training. Saka has missed the last two matches, while Timber has been out since mid-March.
Eje’s return comes at a time when he is in excellent form. His performances earned him the ‘Player of the Month’ award for the second time this season, having previously received the honor in November.
In March, Eje played a crucial role in Arsenal’s success across various tournaments. He scored a stunning long-range goal against Bayer Leverkusen, helping the team secure a spot in the quarter-finals. Additionally, he netted a decisive goal after coming off the bench in an FA Cup match against Mansfield Town. In the Premier League, Eje played every minute in March, contributing to Arsenal’s three consecutive victories, further solidifying their position at the top of the points table.
