
Srinagar, May 12: The Indian Army paid tribute to Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO) Naib Subedar Hira Bahadur Pandey of the 32 National Rifles on Tuesday. He sacrificed his life during operational duty in Kashmir.
The Chinar Corps, based in Srinagar, honored Naib Subedar Pandey’s supreme sacrifice while on duty in Baramulla district. They expressed that his courage and dedication will always inspire them.
In a post, the Chinar Warriors saluted the bravery and sacrifice of Naib Subedar Pandey. They stand in solidarity with his grieving family and are committed to their well-being.
Naib Subedar Pandey lost his life after falling into a deep gorge during a special operation in the Rafiabad area of North Kashmir. Reports indicate that security forces initiated a special operation late Sunday night in the upper regions of Rafiabad, specifically in the Marakoot Hamam forest area.
During the operation, Naib Subedar Pandey reportedly slipped while climbing a steep hill and fell into a deep gorge. Fellow soldiers quickly commenced a rescue operation and successfully extracted him from the area. Official sources confirmed that the incident occurred while army personnel were patrolling the dense upper jungle of Hamam Marakoot at night.
While navigating the challenging terrain, the officer lost his balance and fell, sustaining severe injuries. Authorities confirmed that he succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Following the incident, his body was recovered from the location.
Officials have classified the incident as an accident, and local police have registered a case regarding the fall. The upper jungles of Rafiabad are known for their difficult and rugged terrain. Security forces frequently patrol these areas, especially at night, under surveillance and anti-militancy operations.
