Arjun Ram Meghwal Accuses Opposition of Sabotaging Womens Reservation Bill

Bikaner, April 26: Central Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal has targeted the opposition regarding the Women’s Reservation Amendment Bill. He claimed that the opposition’s deliberate conspiracy is the reason for their lack of support.

While speaking to reporters, Meghwal noted that the opposition’s attitude has resulted in visible anger among women, which will soon have consequences.

He emphasized that women have been striving for political representation since 1927, particularly in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies, but the opposition has historically neglected this issue. He pointed out that when Prime Minister Narendra Modi finally focused on it, the opposition began to resist.

Meghwal stated that the reservation for women’s representation was unanimously passed in 2023, yet it has not been implemented due to ongoing opposition protests. He criticized the opposition for providing various incorrect arguments against the bill.

He urged all parties to unite for the country’s benefit, mentioning that the Samajwadi Party suggested, “Provide reservation for Muslim women,” which is not even a constitutional provision. Another argument was made for OBC women’s reservation, which pertains to amendments in the 2023 bill and can be discussed at a later time.

Meghwal reiterated that both Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah have frequently highlighted the benefits of the bill, but opposition MPs are ignoring it, which is detrimental to the nation. He stressed that the bill should not be linked to upcoming assembly elections, as their mandate is to work for the public’s interest.
