Apple Unveils Giant Displays for iPhone Duo Ahead of Launch
Apple showcased large promotional displays for the iPhone Duo at four stores worldwide ahead of its launch.

Apple has unveiled giant promotional displays for its new iPhone Duo at four locations globally ahead of the device’s launch on Friday. The oversized displays are located at Apple Fifth Avenue in New York City, Apple Covent Garden in London, Apple BKC in India, and Apple Jing’an in Shanghai.
The installations were previously seen covered, but Apple CEO John Ternus shared a photo of the display at Apple Jing’an on Weibo. The displays feature mirrored finishes and glowing edges, presenting the iPhone Duo in various positions.
Ternus is expected to attend the launch event at Apple Fifth Avenue. According to Apple, limited availability of the iPhone Duo will initially be offered to walk-in customers at stores in the U.S. and select other countries.
The iPhone Duo, which is one of Apple’s most innovative products, has received mixed reviews due to its unique design and functionality. A key design element is its wide shape, resembling a passport, which stands apart from the taller, narrower foldable phones currently on the market. The outer display measures 5.4 inches, while the inner display is 7.6 inches with a matte coating intended to minimize the visibility of its crease.
Although the iPhone Duo is seen as a bold departure from traditional iPhone designs, it has faced criticism for being complicated and potentially frustrating for everyday users. Early adopters have described the device as exciting but noted the challenges it poses for functionality, particularly with app interfaces that require adjustment to the new aspect ratio.
“The Duo changes all of that — it’s the first iPhone that’s gotten shorter and wider,” said The Verge.
As more users test its capabilities, the performance and durability of the iPhone Duo will be crucial points of evaluation. Apple’s decision to innovate with this device is seen as a risk that could redefine its smartphone lineup.
The oversized displays are part of Apple’s strategy to generate excitement and awareness around the iPhone Duo’s release. With Ternus’s appearance at the Fifth Avenue store, the company emphasizes its commitment to a high-profile launch. The reaction from the gadget community remains divided as anticipation builds.
Apple has focused on creating a product that could potentially reshape the smartphone experience, though its success will hinge on user response and the adaptability of existing apps to the new format.
