Mumbai, April 24: Social activist Anna Hazare has responded to the recent departure of seven MPs from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Speaking to reporters, he emphasized that every individual has the right to make such choices in a democracy. He stated that it is not appropriate to impose strict measures on anyone. Hazare noted that if the party had been functioning properly, these leaders would not have left.
Criticizing Arvind Kejriwal, Hazare remarked that when self-interest takes precedence, society and the nation are often forgotten. He attributed the turmoil to a preoccupation with power and money.
AAP leader Manish Sisodia took to social media platform X, expressing his concerns about the situation in Gujarat. He highlighted that while thousands of party workers risk their lives to uphold the party’s ideology, some traitors have betrayed the hard work of Punjab’s activists.
Sisodia stressed that those Rajya Sabha members who have succumbed to BJP’s influence due to personal pressures and greed have betrayed the people of Punjab. He warned that Punjab never forgives traitors.
AAP MLA Ashok Parashar, known as ‘Pappi’, commented that if someone betrays the party that honored them with a Rajya Sabha position, people will lose trust in that individual. He asserted that Punjabis remain steadfast in their beliefs and positions.
Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Wadding congratulated the BJP for welcoming such individuals into their fold. He noted that the BJP has already gathered several members from other parties and suggested that this would not benefit them. Instead, it would help AAP understand its true reality.
