Mumbai, August 26: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has directed officials to implement the ‘Sanjeevani’ project across the state starting January 1. This initiative aims to enhance healthcare services significantly.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the full implementation of the digital health records system under ‘Sanjeevani’ could bring revolutionary changes to medical services. He urged officials to ensure the project’s success, positioning Andhra Pradesh as a model for healthcare services in other states.
During a review meeting at his camp office, Naidu discussed the ‘Sanjeevani’ project with officials. Following positive results from its pilot implementation in the Kuppam constituency and Chittoor district, he has instructed its rollout statewide.
Naidu noted that families in the state currently face substantial expenses for education and healthcare. Initiatives like ‘Sanjeevani’ are being launched to alleviate this financial burden. He also directed the project’s official partner, Tata MD, to focus on new and innovative solutions in the healthcare sector.
Officials informed the Chief Minister that a 90-day plan has been developed to expand the ‘Sanjeevani’ program throughout the state. This plan includes baseline studies, building digital infrastructure, training, certification, and integration with national and state portals. There are also plans to train medical staff across 28 districts.
The Chief Minister stated that medical services should be proactive, capable of preventing diseases, providing treatment, and being affordable. He emphasized the need for a shift in dietary habits and mindsets. The integration of modern medical science with homeopathy, Ayurveda, yoga, and pranayama is also essential.
Naidu advocated for the widespread use of AI doctors, ensuring data security and privacy while developing a comprehensive dashboard. He highlighted the importance of focusing on outsourced services in hospitals, such as cleanliness, and proposed a policy for removing underperforming service providers. The goal is to build trust in medical services and establish a system for sending health updates directly to people’s mobile phones.
The Chief Minister reviewed the results of the ‘Sanjeevani’ program in Kuppam and Chittoor. Officials reported that 56% of hypertension cases in Chittoor have been controlled, and the severity of diabetes cases has decreased by 16%. There has also been a significant increase in the use of primary healthcare services.
A survey conducted to gauge public opinion on ‘Sanjeevani’ services revealed that 91% of respondents felt they gained a better understanding of their health after utilizing these services.
Officials informed the Chief Minister that an AI-based healthcare system is being developed to cover the entire process from screening to treatment and follow-up.
The review meeting was attended by Health Minister Satyakumar Yadav, Health Secretary Veerapandian, Joint Secretary Ronanki Gopalakrishna, and a representative from Tata MD.
