
Amaravati, May 7: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced on Thursday that local body elections in Andhra Pradesh will be conducted soon.
While addressing a conference of district collectors at the state secretariat, he emphasized the urgency of these elections.
Naidu reviewed the functioning of various departments and the implementation of grassroots programs. Key topics included education, healthcare, and investment at the local level.
He instructed district collectors to promote the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) sector, highlighting that the increasing number of industries creates significant opportunities for supporting industries.
The Chief Minister stressed that MSMEs must play a crucial role in the developing industrial ecosystem surrounding major investments in the state.
He pointed out that issues faced by companies wishing to invest in the state, particularly those related to land allocation, need to be resolved promptly.
Naidu also emphasized the need to develop products from various districts into national and global brands, similar to the successful branding of Araku coffee.
He noted that the arrival of the Google Cloud Artificial Intelligence hub in Andhra Pradesh has attracted the Carrier Air Conditioning Company to the state.
The company will supply bulk chillers necessary for data centers and quantum computing facilities. Naidu mentioned that a quantum reference facility has already been established in Amaravati, and an ecosystem for manufacturing essential equipment will be developed once the quantum computing center is operational.
He reiterated that MSMEs should become an integral part of this evolving industrial ecosystem.
Highlighting the importance of logistics, he stated that reducing transportation costs is essential for rapid economic growth.
The Chief Minister informed officials that 64 national highway projects worth over ₹1 lakh crore are underway in the state, while 624 railway projects costing ₹64,000 crore are currently under construction.
