Amaravati, February 20: The Andhra Pradesh government has established a one-member committee to recommend action against officials involved in the alleged supply of adulterated ghee for Tirumala Laddu. The committee is expected to submit its report within 45 days.
Retired Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Dinesh Kumar will lead the investigation into the Special Investigation Team (SIT) self-contained note (SCN). The committee will assess the lapses, deficiencies, and failures related to the tender conditions for ghee supply and recommend appropriate actions against guilty members of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) and senior officials.
The government issued an order on Friday to form this committee, which is tasked with evaluating administrative lapses and failures in enforcing tender conditions. The committee will investigate whether decisions were made with due diligence, whether justifications were recorded, and if procedural compliance was ensured. It will also determine the extent of administrative responsibility of TTD officials, committee members, or officers, and recommend suitable administrative or disciplinary actions.
According to the government order, the report will be advisory in nature and will be reviewed by the government for further action. The order references a case filed by the Tirupati East police station in 2024, which accused TTD of supplying adulterated and substandard ghee.
On October 4, 2024, the Supreme Court assigned an independent SIT to oversee the investigation. The government order also notes that the SIT filed a charge sheet in court on January 23, 2026, after completing its investigation, recommending action against guilty committee members and senior TTD officials for lapses in tender conditions.
The coalition government led by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) decided to form this committee earlier this month. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced on February 5 that no one found guilty in this matter would be spared.
Naidu stated that the CBI-led team had submitted a report to the state government to initiate administrative action against the involved individuals. He denied claims that the SIT had given a clean chit to the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) in the Tirupati Laddu adulteration case. He assured that appropriate actions would be taken based on the committee’s findings after their review is complete.
