Amla, known as a medicinal fruit available in winters, is believed to help in curing various ailments. In Ayurveda, amla is called the “nectar fruit” and is valued for its benefits ranging from blood purification to enhancing skin and hair health.

Traditionally, people consume amla juice or eat the fruit despite its sour taste. However, amla water is equally beneficial as amla juice. Ayurveda recognizes amla as a fruit that balances the three doshas – Vata, Pitta, and Kapha – and supports blood purification.

For those who find amla juice difficult to consume, amla water offers a gentler alternative with similar health benefits. This preparation is not a quick fix or a harsh detox but a natural way to soothe Pitta, maintain digestive fire, and boost vitality.

To prepare amla water, grate or chop amla into small pieces and soak them overnight in a glass of water. In the morning, boil this water, strain it, and drink it. Consuming amla water daily on an empty stomach for about a month is recommended.

Amla water helps calm Pitta, reduces acidity and internal heat, strengthens immunity, enhances skin and hair health, purifies blood, and removes toxins from the body. It acts like a natural tonic supporting overall well-being.

However, people with weak digestion should avoid amla juice. Also, those suffering from cold or excess Kapha should refrain from amla juice consumption, as its cooling effect may increase Kapha issues.

Note: Amla water is a gentle and effective way to incorporate the benefits of amla without the sour taste of its juice, making it a practical option for many.
