Mumbai, May 19: BJP spokesperson Shah Nawaz Hussain welcomed the recent statements made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He noted that people across the country are praising Shah for fulfilling his promise to eliminate Naxalism.
Following Amit Shah’s declaration that Chhattisgarh’s Bastar region is now ‘Maoist-free,’ Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister and Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde hailed this as a significant achievement for the nation. Shinde commended Shah’s efforts, stating that he has delivered on his commitment.
Amit Shah claimed that Naxalism has been completely eradicated from Bastar and several other parts of the country ahead of the March 31, 2026 deadline. This announcement was made during a press conference after the 26th meeting of the Central Regional Council held in Jagdalpur, Chhattisgarh. Notably, this regional meeting was the first of its kind to take place in Bastar.
In response, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde expressed his gratitude and congratulations to Amit Shah. He remarked, “He had announced that India would be free from Naxalism, and today we see that Bastar is indeed Maoist-free.”
Shinde further stated, “All of India is now on the path to being free from Naxalism, which is a monumental achievement.” He expressed hope that areas liberated from Naxalism would experience rapid development and increased job opportunities. He mentioned that infrastructure improvements, enhanced healthcare services, and better education systems would positively impact the lives of the people in these regions.
The Shiv Sena leader emphasized, “This is a tremendous accomplishment by our Home Minister Amit Shah.” He also noted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, the Maharashtra government has been consistently working towards eradicating Naxalism in Gadchiroli district, which is another significant achievement.
Eknath Shinde concluded by stating, “Today, every Indian can take pride in Amit Shah for fulfilling his pledge to make India free from Naxalism.”
