Amit Shah Promises Uniform Civil Code if BJP Wins Again in Uttar Pradesh
Amit Shah vows to implement Uniform Civil Code in Uttar Pradesh if BJP secures a third term, emphasizing party unity for upcoming elections.

Lucknow, October 30 (Daily Kiran) : In a bid to energize the party ahead of the 2027 assembly elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has ramped up its organizational efforts in Uttar Pradesh. Union Home Minister Amit Shah inaugurated a state executive meeting of the party in Lucknow on October 30, 2026, beginning the session with a ceremonial lighting of a lamp at Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Law University.
Among those present were state president and Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, both deputy chief ministers, and senior party officials.
During his address, Shah rallied the party workers, urging them to unite for the goal of securing a third consecutive term for the BJP in the state. He called on the members to set aside personal grievances and aspirations, emphasizing the importance of strengthening the organization. He urged them to view the upcoming elections as their own and to commit fully to the campaign.
Shah launched a sharp critique against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav, asserting that the BJP would respond to Gandhi’s “meaningless rhetoric” by winning the elections in 2027. He encouraged party workers to cast aside their frustrations and focus on their roles, stating that the BJP’s government must remain a “strong presence” in Uttar Pradesh.
He highlighted the achievements of the state government, noting that approximately ₹50 lakh crore in investment proposals have been received, with ₹15 lakh crore already realized on the ground. Shah praised the improved law and order situation under Yogi Adityanath’s leadership, which he said has fostered a conducive environment for investment and job creation.
Shah also reiterated the central government’s commitment to Uttar Pradesh’s development, stating that there has been no shortage of funding for state projects. He pointed to the extensive expressway network and the construction of India’s largest airport in Jewar as examples of progress under the BJP administration.
He accused the Samajwadi Party of neglecting the rights of the poor during its tenure, claiming that the current government has ensured that welfare schemes reach eligible beneficiaries. Shah announced that if the BJP wins a third term, it would implement the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in the state, drawing a parallel to the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, which he claimed was executed without significant unrest.
Shah asserted that the BJP government has reduced communal violence in the state by 70% and urged party workers to inform the public about the challenges Uttar Pradesh would face without BJP leadership. He commended Chief Minister Adityanath for his efforts to dismantle organized crime in the state.
In a historical reference, Shah noted the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, attributing its progress to the BJP’s governance under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and criticized previous governments for failing to address the issue.
He concluded by challenging the opposition to discuss their allegations in a special parliamentary session, asserting that the BJP is prepared to answer any questions regarding its electoral performance.
