Amit Shah Honors Sardar Patel on National Unity Day, Emphasizes His Legacy

On National Unity Day, Amit Shah highlights Sardar Patels role in unifying India and calls for a drug-free nation by 2029.

New Delhi, October 31 (Daily Kiran) : In New Delhi, the National Unity Day was celebrated with an ‘Unity Run’ on October 31. Union Home Minister Amit Shah paid tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, describing him as a source of inspiration for sacrifice and patriotism for the youth.

Amit Shah noted that since Narendra Modi became Prime Minister, Patel’s birth anniversary has been observed as National Unity Day. He praised Patel as a remarkable leader who not only redirected India’s historical narrative but also laid a strong foundation for the nation’s geographical unity. He played a crucial role in integrating various princely states and regions, creating a unified India.

The Home Minister emphasized that Patel’s efforts were pivotal in achieving India’s geographical, political, and cultural integration. He recalled that many political analysts predicted India would fragment after gaining independence. However, Patel accomplished what seemed impossible in just 1,218 days, establishing a cohesive India that stands proudly before the world today.

Shah also pointed out that as of March 31 this year, India is progressing towards being drug-free, moving away from the challenges of Naxalism. He urged citizens to work towards the goal of a completely drug-free country by December 31, 2029, aligning with Prime Minister Modi‘s vision of a developed India, starting with a drug-free society.

He highlighted significant achievements during Modi’s tenure, including the abrogation of Article 370, the permanent integration of Kashmir into India, and the implementation of a unified tax system. Shah stressed that the country’s linguistic, cultural, and traditional diversity should be viewed as a strength rather than a weakness, echoing Patel’s message.

The construction of the Somnath temple was also attributed to Patel’s vision. Under Modi’s leadership, initiatives like Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat are propelling the country towards a top position in global rankings.

Shah criticized the past neglect of Patel’s contributions, suggesting that the Congress party has historically downplayed his significance. He noted that when Modi was the Chief Minister of Gujarat, the Statue of Unity was erected to honor Patel’s legacy.

Later in the day, Prime Minister Modi will address the nation from the same location, reinforcing the message of national unity. Following the speeches, Shah led the audience in taking an oath for National Unity Day.
