Jammu, 18 August (Kiran News): The Jammu and Kashmir government has ordered the closure of all educational institutions in Jammu division on Monday (18 August, 2025) due to bad weather.

Officials informed that in the past four days, three cloudburst incidents in Chashoti village of Kishtwar district, and Jodh Valley and Janglote areas of Kathua district, have claimed 68 lives and left 122 others injured.
The Director of School Education, in an order, stated that considering the bad weather, all government and private schools in Jammu division will remain closed on Monday, 18 August, 2025.
This decision has been taken in view of the warning of heavy rainfall in ten districts of the region.
The Meteorological Department has issued an advisory for Jammu and Kashmir, predicting heavy rainfall with thunderstorms between 17 and 19 August. The advisory mentioned risks of cloudbursts, sudden floods, and landslides in sensitive areas. Districts under alert include Jammu, Reasi, Udhampur, Rajouri, Poonch, Samba, Kathua, Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, and some parts of Kashmir.
