Akhilesh Yadav Meets Shankaracharya for Blessings Amid Cow Protection Campaign

Lucknow, March 12: Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party, met with Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati, the Shankaracharya of Jyotirmath, on Thursday in Lucknow. During this meeting, he sought blessings and spiritual guidance from the revered leader.

After the meeting, Yadav spoke to reporters, stating that he came to pay tribute to the Shankaracharya and gain knowledge. “I have just returned from meeting the esteemed Shankaracharya. Now that he is in the capital, we all wanted to receive his blessings. We came here to learn and gain some wisdom and guidance,” he said.

Yadav also commented on the growing influence of social media in shaping public debate. He noted that today, social media is so widespread that everyone feels free to express their opinions. “There is always someone trying to bring a political angle to everything. But I came here to seek blessings from the Shankaracharya,” he added.

He emphasized the importance of blessings from sages when starting good or progressive initiatives. “Whenever we embark on a good or forward-looking project, receiving blessings from sages and saints is invaluable. The greatest benefit of receiving blessings from the Shankaracharya is that it helps end the influence of fake saints,” he remarked.

The Samajwadi Party leader also discussed the steps taken during his party’s government for the welfare of cows. He mentioned that the party has initiated several measures and will continue efforts related to cow protection and service in the future. “As I have mentioned before, the first cow milk plant in Lucknow and Uttar Pradesh was actually set up in Kannauj,” he stated.

Criticizing the current government, he alleged that the dairy facility in Kannauj has been shut down. “This government is against not just the common people but every good initiative as well. The cow milk plant established in Kannauj was also shut down with the government’s collusion. It was a modern facility with Tetra packing, made entirely of stainless steel,” he asserted.

Meanwhile, Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati confirmed that Yadav met him briefly, and their conversation included spiritual topics and memories of the late Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav. The spiritual leader stated, “Akhilesh Yadav came to pay tribute. We discussed some aspects of satsang, and some old memories of Mulayam Singh Yadav were also shared. After that, he left.”

This meeting occurred against the backdrop of the Shankaracharya’s announcement of an 81-day statewide march in Uttar Pradesh for cow protection. This campaign, named ‘Kavisti Yatra,’ will commence on May 3 from Gorakhpur and will traverse approximately 1.08 lakh villages, concluding on July 23. The march aims to raise awareness about cow protection and demands recognition of the cow as ‘Rashtra Mata’ (national mother), along with a nationwide ban on cow slaughter.
