Lucknow, March 10: The National President of the Samajwadi Party, Akhilesh Yadav, launched a strong attack on the central government’s foreign policy on Monday, claiming that the BJP government has compromised the nation’s foreign policy.
He emphasized that India is currently facing serious issues such as war, inflation, and the plight of Indians stranded abroad, which require urgent discussion in Parliament. Yadav noted that for the first time, the influence of other countries on India’s foreign policy is evident.
He accused the government of preaching self-reliance while simultaneously yielding to pressure from the United States on critical decisions like oil purchases. Yadav further stated that the government must clarify its stance regarding the ongoing war. A significant number of Indian citizens, workers, tourists, and journalists are trapped in war-affected areas, and ensuring their safe return is the government’s responsibility. Additionally, controlling the supply of essential goods and rising prices due to the war should be a top priority for the government.
Yadav pointed out that the circumstances were different when the first phase of the Parliament’s budget session concluded, but the current wartime conditions have altered the country’s priorities. Therefore, discussions on foreign policy, national sovereignty, supply chains, and the safety of Indians stranded abroad should take place in Parliament.
Meanwhile, he expressed happiness over the increasing number of Asiatic lions at the Etawah Lion Safari. He mentioned that this project, initiated during the Samajwadi government, aims to strengthen wildlife conservation and environmental balance.
Recently, the safari’s lioness, Neerja, gave birth to four cubs for the third time, raising the total number of cubs to nine. He congratulated the staff and experts associated with the safari, stating that every creature plays a vital role in the environmental cycle, and positive initiatives are essential for nature conservation.
Yadav also announced that on March 15, the Samajwadi Party will celebrate the 92nd birthday of Bahujan leader Kanshiram by organizing ‘Bahujan Samaj Day’ or ‘PDA Day’ events at all district headquarters in the state. He highlighted that Kanshiram dedicated his life to organizing the Bahujan community and ensuring their participation in governance. He noted that the Samajwadi Party continues to work towards strengthening social justice and brotherhood under the PDA (Backward, Dalit, Minority) ideology.
