Akhilesh Yadav Criticizes BJP for Creating a Multi-Layer Election Mafia

Lucknow, May 9: The National President of the Samajwadi Party, Akhilesh Yadav, launched a sharp attack on the BJP government on Saturday. He accused the party of fostering a “multi-layer election mafia” that undermines democracy and the Constitution.

During a press conference held at the SP headquarters in Lucknow to commemorate Maharana Pratap Jayanti, Yadav stated that the BJP has no positive achievements to present to the public. Instead, he claimed the party is engaged in politics of hatred, division, and conflict. He emphasized the need for opposition parties and the public to unite in the fight to protect democracy and the Constitution.

Yadav alleged that there is a systematic effort to remove names from voter lists and influence opposition voters through Form 7. He pointed out that many voters who participated in the 2019 elections found their names missing from the 2022 voter list.

He also raised concerns about Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), noting that developed countries still use paper ballots for voting. “Our demand will remain for elections to be conducted via paper ballots. In the upcoming elections, we will defeat the BJP using EVMs and work towards their removal,” he asserted.

Yadav accused the Election Commission of inaction, stating that no effective measures have been taken despite numerous complaints. He criticized the state government regarding law and order, claiming that those who spoke of “zero tolerance” have rendered law enforcement ineffective. He cited data from the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) as evidence of the government’s failures.

Yadav announced that if the Samajwadi Party comes to power in 2027, a two-day public holiday will be declared on Maharana Pratap Jayanti. Additionally, a grand statue of Maharana Pratap, featuring Chetak and a golden spear, will be erected at the Gomti Riverfront.

He pledged that under a Samajwadi Party government, education for girls from kindergarten to postgraduate levels would be free, and free healthcare would be provided to the poor. He labeled the BJP as a “divisive party,” accusing it of creating societal rifts for political gain. Yadav urged party workers to start preparing for the 2027 elections.
