Chandigarh, February 25: Senior leader of the Shiromani Akali Dal, Bikram Singh Majithia, has launched a sharp attack on the Punjab government regarding the state’s law and order situation. He stated that security conditions in the state have become extremely alarming, and the government has proven to be completely ineffective.

Majithia took to the social media platform ‘X’ to express his concerns. He highlighted that two police officers were murdered in the Gurdaspur district near the international border, yet Punjab Police has failed to clarify who was responsible for this incident and under what circumstances it occurred. Ensuring the safety of personnel stationed in border areas is the government’s primary responsibility, but serious negligence is evident in this case.

It is noteworthy that two police officers were shot dead at the Adiyan police check post, located just one and a half kilometers from the India-Pakistan border, during the night between Saturday and Sunday. The deceased include Home Guard personnel Ashok Kumar from Akhlaspur and ASI Gurnaam Singh from Gadriyan.

On another note, Majithia alleged that current Punjab Police personnel were deployed for the pre-wedding shoot of the newly appointed chairman of the Batala Market Committee, Engineer Manik Mehta.

He questioned whether the state’s security situation has deteriorated to the point where police officers are assigned to private events instead of maintaining law and order.

Majithia demanded answers from police officials, asking if it is appropriate to assign police forces to pre-wedding shoots instead of ensuring the safety of fellow officers. He also targeted leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party, questioning whether their pre-wedding ceremonies are deemed more important than the safety of police personnel.

He remarked that this is the first time such a situation has arisen in the state, where police officers are allegedly being used for pre-wedding shoots. He called for the suspension of Market Committee chairman Manik Mehta and the police personnel involved in the video shoot.
