Raipur, May 14: In the 57th match of IPL 2026, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) faced a 6-wicket defeat against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane expressed disappointment over the team’s sixth loss of the season. However, he credited RCB’s victory to Virat Kohli’s outstanding batting performance.
After the match, Rahane stated, “We believed that a score of 190 on this wicket was a good total. The batsmen in the middle overs thought it was a solid score. You can always say after the match that 10-15 runs here or there made a difference, but I think our batsmen made a commendable effort. Our fielding has been exceptional throughout the tournament, especially in the last 3-4 matches.”
Rahane praised Kohli, saying, “As I mentioned, the credit goes to Virat Kohli and his partnership with Devdutt Padikkal. We all know how dangerous Virat is while chasing runs, but Devdutt has been performing brilliantly in the tournament. We benefited from taking crucial catches in the last few matches. However, such things happen. All players are working hard, but sometimes you can drop a catch, and that’s okay.”
He also commended KKR’s fast bowler Kartik Tyagi for his impressive performance. Rahane noted that Kartik has been consistently performing well and working hard. According to Rahane, Kartik’s mindset is completely clear, which he appreciates the most. Kartik took 3 wickets for 32 runs in his 4-over spell against RCB.
Batting first, KKR scored 192 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in their 20 overs. Ankit Raghuwanshi played a remarkable innings, scoring 71 runs off 46 balls. Rinku Singh remained unbeaten at 49 runs off 29 balls. However, RCB chased down the target of 193 runs comfortably, achieving it in 19.1 overs with the loss of 4 wickets. Virat Kohli delivered a stellar performance, scoring an unbeaten 105 runs off 60 balls, while Devdutt Padikkal contributed 39 runs off 27 balls.
