Ajay Rai Demands Action Against SP Spokesperson for Insulting Brahmins

Varanasi, May 14: Ajay Rai, the President of the Congress party in Uttar Pradesh, has called for action against a spokesperson from the Samajwadi Party (SP) for making derogatory remarks about Brahmins.

Recently, SP spokesperson Rajkumar Bhati made a controversial statement regarding the Brahmin community. In an interview with a news agency, Ajay Rai stated, “I urge Akhilesh Yadav to take strict action against such individuals. He should act according to his conscience, as the community he spoke about symbolizes valor. If Mangal Pandey had not raised his voice in 1857, there would have been no rebellion against the British.”

Rai further emphasized, “This is the same community that Bajirao Peshwa helped throughout the country, and Rani Lakshmibai of Jhansi fought until her last breath. Today, the SP spokesperson has insulted this very community. Akhilesh Yadav should immediately expel the spokesperson from the party and ensure punitive measures are taken against him.”

Regarding Bhati’s apology, Ajay Rai remarked that it is inappropriate to apologize after making such offensive comments. He insisted that Akhilesh Yadav must take the strictest possible action. Rai also expressed condolences for the passing of Akhilesh Yadav’s brother, Prateek Yadav.

Meanwhile, the Kavi Nagar police have filed a case against Rajkumar Bhati for making derogatory comments against Brahmins. The case was registered based on a complaint by BJP leader Ajay Sharma, who demanded stringent action against Bhati. Sharma stated that Bhati’s remarks hurt the religious sentiments of the Brahmin community, and a video of the comments has gone viral on social media.

In response to the backlash, Bhati issued an apology, claiming that parts of his speech were selectively edited and misrepresented.
