Lucknow, April 26: Ajay Rai, the President of the Uttar Pradesh Congress, has launched a strong critique against the BJP and AAP regarding the Women’s Reservation Bill. He labeled the government as anti-women.
In an interview with a news agency, Rai stated, “In 2023, Congress passed the Women’s Reservation Bill unanimously. We demand that this reservation be implemented across 543 seats. The BJP is attempting to introduce a delimitation bill under the guise of women’s reservation.”
Commenting on the recent inclusion of seven Rajya Sabha MPs, including Raghav Chadha, into the BJP, Rai remarked, “The entire Aam Aadmi Party is mired in corruption, and there is a coalition between the BJP and AAP. They collaborate closely.”
Previously, Rai asserted, “The BJP spreads lies in the name of the Women’s Reservation Bill, while it is the Congress Party that truly respects women. The Prime Minister cannot speak about women’s rights and dignity, as the Congress has always honored women. Our leader Sonia Gandhi has promoted women’s respect. The first woman Speaker of the Lok Sabha, Meira Kumar, and the first woman President, Pratibha Devi Patil, are legacies of the Congress.”
He accused the BJP of dismantling its coalition partners, stating that wherever the BJP governs, it destroys its allies. In Maharashtra, it fractured the Shiv Sena, first appointing Eknath Shinde as Chief Minister and then sidelining the entire party. In Bihar, it weakened Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) and sent him to Delhi, replacing him with Samrat Chaudhary as Chief Minister. In Odisha, it supported Naveen Patnaik only to isolate him politically. The BJP devastates its allies wherever it goes.
Meanwhile, in the Kataria area of Ghazipur, Congress MLA Aradhana Mishra Mona expressed her sorrow over the death of a minor, stating, “This is an extremely tragic incident. The rising incidents against girls in the state raise serious questions about the government.”
