Mumbai, May 11: Television actress Aishwarya Sakhuja, who lives with Type 1 diabetes, is a strong advocate for diabetes awareness. She frequently uses social media to share insights and support for those affected by the condition. On Monday, she posted a heartfelt video on Instagram, highlighting the struggles faced by diabetes patients and commending their resilience.
In her post, Aishwarya shared, “Every time I eat, I have to think carefully. When going out, I need to prepare in advance. If my sugar levels drop suddenly, I must act quickly; if they rise, my body feels exhausted. Sleep is disrupted, moods swing, and I feel weak.”
She continued, “It often feels like I am constantly trying to maintain balance in my body. Yet, those battling diabetes wake up every morning and start their day with determination.”
Aishwarya emphasized the importance of insulin, stating, “Insulin is a crucial hormone for our bodies. It helps us utilize energy effectively. Managing it through injections, pumps, medications, blood sugar checks, diet, and constant vigilance is no easy task. It requires daily discipline, patience, courage, and mental strength. There are no breaks in diabetes management.”
She encouraged those managing diabetes to appreciate their strength, saying, “The world only sees your medication, machines, or injections, but behind that is a strong individual. Managing diabetes is not a sign of weakness, and taking insulin is not just a habit. It is about having the courage to manage oneself, live fully, and remain strong every day.”
