Air India Flight from Frankfurt to Delhi Diverted Due to False Hijack Alert

An Air India flight was diverted to Jaipur after a false hijack alert. Security checks cleared the aircraft for further travel to Delhi.

Jaipur, October 14 (Daily Kiran) : An Air India flight traveling from Frankfurt to Delhi was diverted to Jaipur International Airport following a reported hijack alert. This incident occurred on October 14, 2026, and airport officials confirmed that the aircraft was cleared to continue its journey after security checks found no suspicious items.

Passengers aboard flight AI-2030 were asked to reboard the aircraft as preparations began for its departure to Delhi. The flight made an emergency landing at approximately 9:45 AM after Ahmedabad Air Traffic Control (ATC) received the hijack alert, which was subsequently relayed to Jaipur ATC. In response, the plane was redirected and landed safely.

Upon landing, security agencies immediately initiated an investigation and evacuated all passengers from the aircraft. Initial reports indicated that around 300 passengers were on board. The aircraft was taken to an isolation bay, where a thorough inspection was conducted by security personnel, including a team from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).

The investigation lasted about two and a half hours, with no suspicious objects discovered on the plane. Authorities also questioned the pilot to determine how the alert was triggered. Early reports suggested that the hijack alert may have been activated accidentally by the pilot pressing the wrong button. There were also indications that a technical malfunction could have caused the alert.

However, during questioning, the pilot denied accidentally activating the alert button. As of the latest updates, no official statement has been released regarding the true cause of the alert. Following the completion of the security checks, the aircraft was given the green light to proceed to Delhi.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the alert are ongoing. The flight had originally departed Frankfurt at 9:45 PM on October 13 and was scheduled to arrive in Delhi at 10:40 AM on October 14. Due to the hijack alert, it was redirected to Jaipur.

In the aftermath of the incident, security measures at Jaipur Airport have been heightened. Various agencies, including the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), were present at the airport. Reports also indicated that a team from the National Security Guard (NSG) in Delhi was put on alert, although there has been no official confirmation of their deployment to Jaipur.

It is worth noting that the transponder code 7500 is internationally recognized as an alert for unlawful interference or hijacking situations. When air traffic control receives this code, a coordinated security response is initiated among the flight crew, ATC, and relevant security agencies. Despite the possibility of the alert being triggered by mistake or due to a technical issue, security agencies follow precautionary protocols until a full assessment is completed.
