Ranchi, February 23: A Red Bird Aviation aircraft, en route from Ranchi to Delhi, crashed in Chatra district late Monday evening. Initial reports indicate that this aircraft was an air ambulance that took off from Ranchi. Contact with air traffic control (ATC) was lost suddenly at 7:34 PM during the flight.
The plane reportedly crashed in a forested area near Karamatand village, within the Simaria police station jurisdiction. According to preliminary reports, there were seven people on board. However, there has been no official confirmation of casualties so far. Following the loss of contact, relevant agencies launched a large-scale search and rescue operation. Meanwhile, Congress MLA Irfan Ansari from Jamtara claimed that the state government is closely monitoring the situation.
In a post on social media platform X, Irfan Ansari wrote, “A charter ambulance flying from Ranchi to Delhi is missing, with five people on board. A private charter ambulance took off from Birsa Munda Airport around 7 PM and was scheduled to arrive in Delhi around 8:30 PM. Reports suggest that the aircraft was carrying a patient and a medical team among the five people. Weather conditions deteriorated shortly after takeoff, leading to the loss of contact with ATC. The last known location of the aircraft is reported to be over a forested area between Latehar and Palamu.”
He added that security agencies and local administration are on high alert following the incident. The search and rescue operation in the potential area has been intensified. So far, no official confirmation has been made regarding the situation.
Irfan Ansari further stated in his post, “I pray to God that everyone is safe and that the rescue efforts are successful as soon as possible. The state government is taking the situation very seriously.”
