Mumbai, April 8: Director Aditya Dhar is expressing gratitude to his entire team following the remarkable success of his recent film, ‘Dhurandhar.’ On Wednesday, he specifically acknowledged casting director Mukesh Chhabra in a heartfelt post. Aditya shared several photos with Mukesh, highlighting how the casting director recognized the film’s potential long before he did.
Aditya wrote, “Some people come in, do their job, and leave, but some quietly reshape the entire film. Mukesh is one of them. From our first meeting, he showed more faith in the film’s grand vision, ambition, and possibilities than I did. While I was being cautious, Mukesh was completely fearless. When I was thinking small, he inspired me to think bigger and deeper.”
He noted that casting for ‘Dhurandhar’ was quite challenging. The film features numerous actors, each with distinct roles, and the responsibility of selecting the right faces was immense. Aditya stated, “I told Mukesh that I needed the best actors for my film, whether they were newcomers or veterans, big or small, it didn’t matter. Mukesh and his team took this as their mission.”
Aditya continued, “For several days and nights, we sat together understanding each character, discussing, exploring, rejecting, and finding new paths. These discussions felt less like work and more like a sincere effort to create something new.”
Regarding Mukesh Chhabra, Aditya emphasized that for him, casting was not just about filling roles. He dedicated equal effort to even the smallest characters, ensuring that every actor appeared authentic, vibrant, and fully connected to the story’s world.
Aditya wrote, “Beyond the technical work, Mukesh became a true friend, well-wisher, and brother to me. When my faith wavered, he maintained complete trust in the film.”
He expressed hope that ‘Dhurandhar’ would make audiences realize that casting is the most crucial part of filmmaking, often overlooked. He remarked that the right casting can make or break a film.
Aditya also lamented that casting directors still do not receive the respect they deserve in Bollywood.
In closing, he addressed Mukesh Chhabra, saying, “Mukesh, every frame of this film reflects the talent you chose. My endless gratitude, respect, and love to you.”
