Colombo, February 12: Adam Zampa has made history by becoming the joint second-highest wicket-taker in T20 World Cup history. The Australian leg-spinner has claimed a total of 40 wickets in the tournament, tying with Wanindu Hasaranga and Rashid Khan.
All three bowlers have achieved 40 wickets in T20 World Cup matches, while Shahid Afridi follows closely with 39 wickets. Leading the list is Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan, who has taken 50 wickets. In a recent match against Ireland, Zampa bowled four overs, conceding just 23 runs while taking four wickets.
This marks Zampa’s second ‘four-wicket haul’ in T20 World Cup history. He has also recorded a five-wicket haul in the tournament. Overall, Zampa has taken 143 wickets in 112 T20 international matches, boasting an impressive average of 20.56.
In this match, Australia batted first, scoring 182 runs for the loss of six wickets. Marcus Stoinis was the top scorer for Australia with 45 runs, while Matt Renshaw and Josh Inglis contributed 37 runs each.
