Mumbai: The film ‘Border-2’, released on 23 January, has been making impressive collections at the box office and winning the hearts of audiences across the country.
The movie portrays the lives and struggles of four soldiers, including the story of Major Hoshiar Singh Dahiya. In the film, Varun Dhawan plays the role of Major Hoshiar Singh Dahiya, while actress Medha Rana depicts his wife, Dhanwanti Devi. Following the release of the film, Medha Rana met Dhanwanti Devi for the first time.
Medha had not met Dhanwanti Devi before the shooting began, but after the film’s release, she got the opportunity to meet her. The actress expressed her happiness on meeting the brave and lively Dhanwanti Devi, who shared many stories about the late Major’s inspiring courage. Medha posted some photographs of the meeting on Instagram, writing, “I had the honour of meeting Dhanwanti Devi, wife of the late Major (later Colonel) Hoshiar Singh Dahiya, PVC. She is a symbol of strength and courage, an example of determination, and a ray of hope and inspiration. My character is inspired by her life experiences.”
She further added, “Meeting Dhanwanti Devi was a wonderful and heart-touching experience for me. Unfortunately, I could not meet her before the shoot, but when I did, I found her extremely inspiring and humble. Even at 86 years of age, her energy and enthusiasm are truly motivating. She is vibrant, cheerful, and full of life. The stories she shared about her husband’s bravery, dedication, and fearless leadership during the war were deeply moving and inspiring. I have cherished every moment of our conversation.”
Medha also stated, “Although I could not meet her during shooting, I hope I have done justice to her real-life character in Border-2.”
In the film, Medha plays the role of Varun Dhawan’s wife, portrayed as a simple yet spirited village girl. Their heartfelt love story and affectionate moments are also shown on screen.
