Actors Should Build Their Reputation Through Work, Not PR: Meenakshi Seshadri

Mumbai, May 19: Actress Meenakshi Seshadri has shared her thoughts on the publicity stunts adopted by actors in today’s entertainment landscape. She emphasized that many actors prefer to stay in the limelight through quirky outfits and PR tactics rather than focusing on their actual work.

In a recent conversation, Seshadri remarked, “You must have seen the film ‘The Dirty Picture,’ which highlighted that entertainment is the only thing that matters here. Some individuals create news without doing any real work, relying solely on media and publicity. I am not one of them. I prefer that my work speaks for itself.”

Citing the English proverb “Success is the best revenge,” she explained, “The most effective way to achieve success is through quality work. Therefore, the primary goal should be to attain success through work and art. After that, all doors and opportunities will open on their own.”

Recently, actress Ameesha Patel also expressed her views on the PR game and trolling culture in the industry. In a recent social media post, she stated that Indian audiences tend to troll actors more harshly than Hollywood stars, which she finds deeply saddening and shameful.

Ameesha wrote on X that the Indian mentality has become one that seeks to bring others down. She also voiced her frustration over the negativity surrounding actresses’ looks and outfits at major events.

Additionally, she criticized young actors who, despite never having starred in a film that crossed the 200-crore mark, pay PR teams to promote themselves as number one. She highlighted her own achievements, mentioning blockbuster films like ‘Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai,’ ‘Gadar,’ and ‘Gadar 2,’ but noted that her PR machinery is not as robust due to its authenticity.
