Abhishek Nair Praises Shai Hope, Calls Him a Unique Player for India to Face

Bengaluru, October 17 (Daily Kiran) : The fifth and decisive T20 match between India and the West Indies is set to take place on Saturday at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Former Indian team assistant coach Abhishek Nair has advised the Indian squad to target West Indies captain Shai Hope early in this crucial encounter.

Hope has emerged as the biggest challenge for Team India in this T20 series, having scored two centuries in four matches. His performance has been pivotal in leveling the series at 2-2, making his role in the fifth T20 crucial for the West Indies.

Nair stated, “In this decisive T20, India must aim to dismiss Shai Hope quickly. He is troubling the bowling attack and is almost single-handedly leading the West Indies to victory.”

Speaking on GeoStar, Nair noted, “The West Indies have batted well. In the last match, they also delivered a strong bowling performance. India needs to find a way to get Hope out and stop the West Indies from accumulating runs during the powerplay. Only then can they achieve the desired result.”

Nair praised Hope, saying, “It’s been a long time since India has seen a player who scores runs, leads the team, and keeps wickets. When he scores, the team wins. This is the hallmark of a great player. Shai Hope has excelled in his role, utilizing both his skill and strength effectively.”

He also advised Indian bowlers to vary their line and length against Hope. “When you bowl at the stumps, it becomes easier for him to score runs. Sometimes, inconsistency can be the best form of consistency against Shai Hope. India needs to strategize on how to ensure he plays more behind square and how to utilize short balls effectively against him.”
