Abhishek Banerjee Not Admitted to Second Hospital After Medical Examination

Kolkata, May 31: Abhishek Banerjee, the General Secretary of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and Member of Parliament, was not admitted to a second private hospital in Kolkata after being allegedly attacked in Sonarpur, South 24 Parganas district. Following a medical examination, the hospital administration issued a certificate stating that he did not require hospitalization.

Initially, Banerjee was taken to a private hospital near the Eastern Metropolitan Bypass after being escorted out by security forces. However, TMC chief and former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee claimed that the hospital was not providing adequate care for her nephew.

Subsequently, he was transferred to another private hospital located in Minto Park, central Kolkata, where he was placed in the Intensive Treatment Unit (ITU) for further evaluation.

After a thorough medical assessment, doctors concluded that hospitalization was unnecessary. The medical certificate issued by the hospital indicated that Banerjee had no serious internal injuries and was fully conscious. Consequently, the doctors prescribed some medications, including a digestive aid.

Upon learning this, Mamata Banerjee, present at the hospital, expressed her anger. As they left the hospital, she accused both hospitals of refusing to admit Abhishek and provide proper treatment under pressure from the state administration.

Mamata Banerjee stated to reporters, “There was pressure from a Deputy Commissioner of Kolkata Police at Minto Park hospital to prevent Abhishek’s admission. First, they won elections through rigging and intimidation, then they orchestrated an attack on Abhishek, and now they are denying him treatment.”

She also mentioned that Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, had called her, offering his full support. According to Mamata, Gandhi assured her that if necessary, arrangements would be made for Abhishek’s treatment at any hospital outside West Bengal.

Following this, Mamata Banerjee left the hospital with Abhishek Banerjee. As of the time of reporting, he had returned to his residence on Kalighat Road in South Kolkata, which is near Mamata Banerjee’s home.
