AAPs Internal Strife Exposed: Pratap Singh Bajwas Take on Recent Defections

Chandigarh, April 24: The recent defection of several Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MPs to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has raised eyebrows. Punjab’s Leader of Opposition, Pratap Singh Bajwa, stated on Friday that the ongoing rift within AAP has unveiled the party’s true nature.

Bajwa emphasized that this crisis is not ideological. Instead, it revolves around a struggle for control over state resources and public funds. He pointed out that the current events confirm longstanding concerns that AAP’s political motivations in Punjab are less about governance and more about accessing the state treasury.

The Congress leader remarked that what is unfolding today is not a battle of principles but rather a conflict driven by power, protection, and money. He highlighted the irony in Raghav Chadha’s claim that he could not remain complicit in the party’s misconduct, while Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann accused Chadha and others of leaving the party due to a lack of freedom to engage in corruption.

Bajwa stated that when both sides accuse each other of corruption, the truth inevitably comes to light. This struggle has never been about ideology; it has always been about the systematic plunder of Punjab’s public treasury.

He also accused the BJP of playing a role in this entire saga, labeling it a “bargaining of the people’s mandate.” Bajwa asserted that central investigative agencies have been allegedly misused to trace illegally amassed assets. However, instead of ensuring justice, it appears this information has been used to pressure individuals and sway them politically.

This raises serious questions about the misuse of institutions established to uphold the rule of law. The people of India expect accountability, not political bargaining based on selective action.

Pratap Singh Bajwa reiterated that, in stark contrast, the Congress party has consistently upheld democratic values, transparency, and accountability in public life. He assured that when the people of Punjab hand over power to Congress in 2027, the party will ensure a thorough and impartial investigation into all matters related to wrongdoing and hold those responsible accountable under the law.

He concluded by stating that Congress stands firmly for clean governance and respect for the people’s mandate. Punjab deserves stability, integrity, and leadership that prioritizes public interest over political opportunism.
