AAP Faces Major Setback as Raghav Chadha and Others Join BJP

New Delhi, April 24: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) suffered a significant blow on Friday when Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha announced his departure from the party, along with several other MPs, including Sandeep Pathak and Ashok Mittal, to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). This announcement prompted a strong reaction from AAP’s national convenor and former Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal.

In response, Kejriwal criticized the BJP, stating on the social media platform X, “The BJP has once again betrayed the Punjabis.”

AAP’s Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh also took to X, asserting, “The BJP, led by Amit Shah, has betrayed Punjab by poaching our MPs through ‘Operation Lotus.’ All seven MPs have received love and blessings from AAP and the people of Punjab. Now they will face the consequences of their betrayal.”

AAP leader Anurag Dhanda remarked, “A person’s identity is defined by their character. The option to bend and compromise was available to Mahatma Gandhi, Subhas Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh, and Arvind Kejriwal. All great leaders chose to fight, and that is how their character is defined. By joining the BJP, these individuals have revealed their true character. The people of Punjab will respond to their betrayal and deceit. The AAP government in Punjab is doing excellent work. The BJP, fearing our government’s achievements, has initiated ‘Operation Lotus’ and has attempted to poach our MPs using threats from the ED and CBI.”

Earlier, Raghav Chadha addressed a press conference, stating that AAP has completely strayed from its core principles. He claimed that out of AAP’s ten Rajya Sabha MPs, more than two-thirds are aligned with this initiative. He mentioned that they have already signed the necessary documents and submitted them to the Rajya Sabha Chairman this morning.
