New Delhi : Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Saturday that crores of taxpayers of the country are today satisfied that their money is being used to feed and serve crores of people. The previous governments yearned to provide basic facilities to the poor. He used to make rounds of government offices, but his government is going to the poor and giving them the benefits of government schemes.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in the home entry of about 4.51 lakh beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin in Satna, Madhya Pradesh through video conferencing today, on the occasion of Dhanteras. The Prime Minister also addressed the gathering on the occasion. While wishing Dhanteras and Deepawali, he said that there was an occasion when a rich man could buy a car, house and expensive property on this festival. But today the poverty of the country is able to enter the house on Dhanteras. He congratulated the beneficiary women of Madhya Pradesh on becoming the mistress of the house.
Reiterating the commitment of his government, Prime Minister Modi said that our aim is to fulfil the aspirations of the citizens. At the same time, it is our endeavour to save money for the poor and middle class. In this sequence, it is our endeavour that everyone should get a pucca house, gas, electricity, water and free treatment at the earliest. Everyone should have access to good roads, schools, colleges and hospitals and villages are connected by optical fibre. Working hard for all this.
Giving information about the works done under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, the Prime Minister said that in the last 8 years, the dream of 3.5 crore families has been fulfilled. They are confident that getting a new home will give them the strength to fulfil their dreams.
Comparing earlier and now, the Prime Minister said that the poor had to build toilets separately. One had to make rounds of government offices for electricity, water and gas connections. But today different schemes of the government make up the ‘Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana’ with essential things like toilets, electricity, water and gas.
The Prime Minister said that 30 lakh houses have been built under the scheme in Madhya Pradesh. At present work is going on on 9 to 10 lakh houses. Millions of houses being built are also creating employment opportunities in every nook and corner of the country. This is happening because his government is working day and night to provide a pucca roof to the very poor.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, it has been the continuous effort of the Prime Minister to provide every citizen of the country with all the basic facilities of their own house. This is another step in this direction. So far about 38 lakh houses have been sanctioned in Madhya Pradesh under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and construction of about 29 lakh houses has been completed at a cost of more than 35 thousand crores.
