Ayodhya : Tight security measures are in place for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Ayodhya on Sunday.
International dignitaries, diplomats, union Ministers, and celebrities are scheduled to attend the Deepotsav celebrations. Ram Katha Park will host major events. Modi is likely to stay in Ayodhya for more than four hours. Security details surrounding Saket Inter College, Ram Katha Park, and Ram Ki Paidi were being evaluated in order to close any gaps. Extensive plans are being prepared to control traffic along the road from Saket Inter College, where Modi is expected to arrive in a helicopter. Motorists will be unable to access the entire area.
Shopkeepers in Ayodhya have met with senior administrative and police authorities to address their concerns and find a solution to allow them to continue operating normally.
The vendors and traders who have shops in areas where events are scheduled would be unable to continue on with normal business on Sunday, which also happens to be Diwali eve, said Nand Kumar Gupta, president of the Ayodhya Vyapar Mandal.
“We all want Deepotsav to be a huge success and will provide our full support to the preparations. However, until October 23, we require room and opportunity to conduct business because the festival season is a time for business, he opined. An SPG squad has already arrived in Ayodhya to manage security.
The administration has decided to set up 1.25 lakh diyas around the Ram Janmabhoomi complex to welcome the Prime Minister, who is due to visit the under-construction Ram temple.
