Jaipur : The Army Commander’s Polo Cup 2022 concluded on 18 September at 61 CAVALRY Polo Grounds, Jaipur Military Station. The week long tournament which commenced on 12 September was won by Sahara Warriors who defeated Chandna-Carysil in the finals by 7 goals to 6 . Post the final match, the Army Commander, Sapta Shakti Command Lieutenant General A S Bhinder presented the Cup to the winning team Sahara Warriors led by Mr Chris Mackenzie.
Six best teams of the country had participated in the tournament namely 61 CAVALRY, Chandna Carysil, Vpolo, Bedla Polo , Krishna Polo and Sahara Warriors. The teams competed intensely wherein five league matches were played over three days with Sahara Warriors and Chandna-Carysil making it to the finals based on points.
The highlights of the final match were some outstanding skills on display by Mr Chris MacKenzie from South Africa and Mr Manolo Fernandez from Argentina both handicapped at six goals playing for Sahara Warriors and Chandna-Carysil respectively. Another notable participant was Ashok Chandna, Hon’ble minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Rajasthan as part of Chandna-Carysil team.
Army Commander’s Polo Cup was instituted in the year 2006 by Lt. Gen PK Singh, the then Army Commander of Sapta Shakti Command. The Cup has been won maximum nine times by 61 CAVALRY.
