Hyderabad, April 20 : A delegation of Telangana Bharatiya Janata Party leaders led by state General Secretary G Premender Reddy on Tuesday urged Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan to take necessary steps for ordering a through probe into the ever-deteriorating law and order situation in the state. A memorandum to this effect was submitted by the delegation to the Governor at Raj Bhavan here and a copy of which was released to the media. The memorandum stated as you are aware, the recent incidents of suicide involving three people including an elderly woman shocked the people of Telangana. What is more shocking and intriguing is the fact that both the cases point to the culpability of the state police. This kind of politicization of the police force and the law-and-order apparatus in the state is unprecedented in its history. In the city of Khammam, police booked a false case on one of the BJP worker Sai Ganesh. His only sin was to hoist the party flag on the BJP Foundation Day on April 6. After a couple of days, when he had objected to encroachments by the Church authorities, he was arrested by the police of Khammam. Further, at the behest of the TRS leaders and the Minister from Khammam Puvvada Ajay Kumar, the police opened a rowdy-sheet on Sai Ganesh, who is a 23-year-old youth. Unable to bear this humiliation just before his marriage, he committed suicide by consuming poison within the police station premises on April 14 and succumbed to it after two days — on April 16. In another incident that happened in Ramayampet on April 17, one Gangam Santosh (40) and his mother Padma (65) committed suicide in a horrendous manner that they poured petrol and set themselves ablaze. The reason for their suicide, they pre-recorded and made it public as a dying declaration. They made it categorical that the M cipal Chairman of Ramayampet who belongs to the TRS, along with his accomplices, who are all also leaders of the ruling TRS, subjected them to inhuman harassment reportedly on the issues related to real estate. Further, the Station House Officer of Ramayampet joined the league of abettors and intimidated them to such an extent that both son and the mother had no option but to take recourse to the unfortunate step. This is not merely criminal but utterly barbaric, the memorandum said. Your Excellency may kindly recall that, a few days ago, a couple committed suicide in this very city of Khammam unable to cave in to the sexual favours sought by the son of a TRS MLA. “We request you to order a CBI probe using your discretionary powers. Only the CBI probe would unearth the nexus among TRS leaders, public representatives, ministers, and the police. If this kind of nexus is not exposed and curtailed, it would prove very dearer to the very foundations of democracy, and hence the request for a CBI probe”, the memorandum added. VV CS1556
