New Delhi, April 17 : All India Kashmiri Samaj (AIKS) demanded the Central government to take concrete steps to instill a sense of security among residual Kashmiri Pandits in Kashmir. In the wake of fresh threat letters issued to residual comm ty members and PM Package employees by various militant groups still active in the valley, the AIKS Consultative Group in its meeting at RK Puram office took serious note of the SOS press release issued by Kashmiri Pandit Sangarsh Samiti (KPSS), called upon the government to take immediate and foolproof security measures for the safety of comm ty members who stayed put in the valley even in the aftermath of 1990 exodus, and also the PM Package employees who are spread in every corner of the valley, AIKS said in an official comm que. AIKS expressed concern over the fresh spurt of militant activity in the valley which saw a resident KP, a Chemist, becoming the first victim last year and which was followed by a series of KP and non-KP Hindu including a Bihari labourer and a Sikh woman teacher and her male counterpart in the school premises. While such incidents show that KPs remain sitting ducks for the militants, AIKS, in a statement, said. While AIKS much appreciated the bold initiatives undertaken by the present government-led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in rooting out terrorism and bringing the trouble prone erstwhile state (J&K) into national mainstream through myriad policies like abrogation of Article 370 and 35A, at the same time it remained very concerned about the safety and security of remnant number of comm ty members and PM Package employees who intermittently find themselves in the line of fire.
