Hubli, April 15 : BJP In-charge of Karnataka, Arun Singh on Friday alleged that there was a senior Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee leader involved in fixing former minister KS Eshwarappa in Santosh Patil’s suicide. “If you see the case in entirety, you will come to know whose hand is behind (Patil’s suicide). People of the state know this. They know who plans the conspiracy. Who makes the tape? The KPCC leader, he alone does all these things. Everybody knows. There is no doubt about it,” he told reporters here. Singh said the Congress is conspiring and would do so in the coming days even more because they do not work on the ground level. “They don’t go in public. They don’t work either (amidst people). They are totally busy in creating conspiracies. This is what the Karnataka Congress leaders are doing,” he added. Singh said despite this development, BJP was confident of returning to power in the state because there was a wave in favour of the party across the state. “In four states, we have romped home with a thumping majority and formed the government. This is a historic win of BJP and the Congress getting wiped out,” he added. Patil, a Belagavi-based contractor, was found dead at a lodge in Udupi on Tuesday, weeks after accusing Eshwarappa of corruption. In a purported suicide note via a WhatsApp message, Patil had blamed Eshwarappa for his death. Based on a complaint from Patil’s relative, the Udupi town police booked Eshwarappa for abetting the suicide. Earlier, Patil had complained to on Rural Development Minister Giriraj Singh and BJP Central leaders, stating that he was yet to be paid Rs four crore for road works undertaken in Hindalga village and had accused Eshwarappa’s aides of demanding commission for the payment.
