Delhi: Single-day rise of new Covid cases doubles in 48 hrs

New Delhi, April 13 : The single-day rise of Covid-19 cases in the national capital has doubled in the last 48 hours. Delhi recorded 299 fresh cases on Wednesday, a rise of more than 100 per cent new cases the city reported on Monday when it logged 137 infections. Wednesday’s tally is also nearly 50 per cent more than yesterday (202 cases). With this, the national capital’s caseload has increased to 18,66,881. The national capital has seen an uptick in cases in the last few days after recording a steady decline for over two months. While no death due to the highly contagious disease was reported in the last 24 hours, the daily positivity rate has gone up to 2.49 per cent, taking the cumulative rate to 4.98 per cent. The city government has stated that it is keeping a watchful eye on the situation. Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain had earlier said there is no reason to worry until a new variant of concern is detected. “The daily cases in Delhi are being reported in the range of 100-200. We are keeping an eye on hospital admissions and they are going down. Focus shouldn’t be on positivity rate much as of now,” he stated. ASH SHK2148
