Jammu, April 11 : As part of the recently-launched landmark initiative of providing land passbooks to legal land owners, on Joint Secretary, Department of Land Resources, Sonmoni Borah on Monday distributed Land Passbook among the beneficiaries at Palli Panchayat in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir. Commissioner Secretary, J&K Revenue Department, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri and Deputy Commissioner, Samba, Anuradha Gupta were also present on the occasion. Celebrating the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, the district administration of Samba is distributing Land passbooks among the legal land owners to ensure transparency in the service delivery mechanism of Revenue Department. As part of Gram Swarajya Utsav, the on JS handed over 50 land passbooks to lawful owners of Palli Panchayat, including Yaspal, Sewa Ram, Sher Mohd, Nanak Chand, Vijay Kumar, Som Lal, Sahdev Raj and others. “The roll out of land passbooks in the UT is a historic milestone in the Revenue Department, aimed at promoting people’s ease of access to revenue records,” said the on Joint Secretary. “Land Passbook carries the same evidentiary value being certified copies of Record-of-Rights for all intents and purposes before Courts and Financial institutions,” he added. He informed that the land passbooks issued to every landholder contains entry from the Jamabandi in revenue record, so as to enable the landholder to make its use for availing bank credit and for other matters where revenue records are required. He said these passbooks have a que ID and QR code as an additional security feature with the help of which any institution, individual or an agency can verify the credentials and authenticity of the land passbook. “It is going to be a tool for redressal of grievances, litigations, disputes at various forums,” he added.
