Patna, April 11 : Bihar Chief Minister on Monday supported the Criminal Procedure (Identification) Bill 2022 passed by both Houses of Parliament, saying it was needed to check crimes. Kumar told media persons after “Janata Darbar” organised at CM secretariat premises, that Centre was well within its right to frame law to check crimes. When enacted, Criminal Procedure (Identification) law would be applicable at national level and not for any particular state, he added. ” With the availability of latest technology, it should be used to gather detailed information about the criminals”, Chief Minister said adding that detailed guidelines would be issued for implementation of the law at the national level. Administrative and police authorities would look into finer aspects of the law to ensure whether it was being implemented properly, he stressed. Kumar said that an amendment in existing law was being made, which was entirely under domain of the parliament and Central government. Administrative officials regularly conducted raids in jails to ensure adherence to norms by inmates, he added. Chief Minister said that a British regime law was being amended. Records of criminals should be maintained definitely to track them, he further said, adding it would help in checking crimes, he stated. KKS ARN
