Farmers not have faced agony if TRS govt purchased paddy : TPCC

Hyderabad, April 11 : Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) Senior Vice President G Niranjan said that the farmers wouldn’t have faced agony if the state government came forward to purchase the paddy immediately after the on Government has refused. Why Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao want to play politics at the cost of farmers’ welfare and interests, he questioned and said without taking a decision here itself, why the CM had taken thousands of his party men to the National Capital to hold a maha dharna on paddy procurement by the Centre. In a statement here, Niranjan said the state government should take a decision in tomorrow’s cabinet meeting to bring down the tax burden imposed by it on consumers by way of VAT on petrol, diesel and gas. The state government is collecting VAT of 35.2 per cent on Petrol and 27 per cent on Diesel, he said. “If Rao is really committed to the interests of the general public, a decision should be taken in the Cabinet meeting to take back the hike in electricity and bus charges”, the TPCC President added.
