New Delhi, April 10 : Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, who is on a five-day visit to Assam, interacted with tea garden workers in Hathikul area of Kanziranga and listened to their problems. Birla said that issues relating to problems of tea garden workers have come up in Parliament for discussion by Members. He assured that he would discuss these issues with the Assam Government, Lok Sabha Secretariat official comm qué said. He visited the tea production ts where he interacted with tea garden workers, appreciated their skills. He said that the workers select each leaf with great skill and diligence and then they are processed with modern techniques. Indian tea leaves hold a special place in the world due to their quality, the statement said. Earlier, on reaching Kaziranga, Assam Agriculture Minister Atul Bora and the local people gave a grand welcome to Birla, as per the culture and traditions of Assam. Birla will inaugurate the 8th CPA India Region Conference at Guwahati in Assam on April 11. The Theme of the Conference is “Strengthening Legislative Oversight to help Optimise Development Outcome for the Aspirational Sections of Society”. During the Conference, the delegates will be deliberating on the subjects such as Mainstreaming youth centric policies, Harnessing youth Energies for National Development and the common good.
