Chennai, Apr 2 : on Minister of State for Textiles Darshana Vikram Jardosh today inaugurated the Handloom Expo 2022 organised by the Central Cottage Industries Emporium (CCIC) in the city. The Expo, titled NESAVU-2022, (Nesavu meaning handloom) will be held till April 12. The expo was an endeavor to promote Indian handlooms products and the spirit of craftsmanship and featured products handcrafted by Weavers and Master weavers. The exhibition is sponsored by Development Commissioner (Handlooms), on Ministry of Textiles, New Delhi. CCIC is the sole Central Government organization marketing finest Indian Handicrafts and Handlooms from all over India through its Emporia in New Delhi, Kolkata, Bangalore, Secunderabad, Gujarat and Chennai. The exhibition will showcases exclusive handwoven Sarees, Shawls, Fabrics, Apparels, Accessories, Furnishing, Home Linen & much more from different parts of the country, with the assurance of authenticity, quality and value for money. India has a rich and diverse textile heritage. The expo provides a glimpse of this marvel and also a platform for the cultural and artistic interchange between weavers and art patrons. The main motto is to encourage visitors to wear Handlooms with pride and to adopt Handloom products in their daily lives. Such initiatives will promote the Indian weavers and textile artists by sustaining their livelihood and providing them with more marketing opport ties and making Atmanirbhar Bharat. Later, talking to reporters, the Minister highlighted the steps taken by the on government to help the handloom and other weavers in the country. GV 1927
