Shimla, April 1 : The Indian Institute of Technology-Mandi will organise a summer camp for a hundred students on Robotics and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in collaboration with Himachal Pradesh Kaushal Vikas Nigam (HPKVN). The camp, to be held in July, will give students a full-fledged opport ty to learn Robotics and AI, an ever-growing field with hands-on experiments-based learning. One hundred students will get the chance to learn the fundamentals and carve out their imagination into real-life projects, according to a spokesman of the institute. Registration is open to all students enrolled in Classes 11 and 12 at recognized schools in the state. Enrolments will be accepted through schools only. Individual applications will not be entertained. An entrance test based on 10+2 level Maths, Physics, and General Aptitude will be conducted on May 1. Based on the results of this qualifying test, students will be selected for the camp. Those chosen will be invited for a complete training program at the IIT-Mandi campus. During the camp, students will learn AI concepts and their application to several domains of healthcare and agriculture. Tushar Jain, Head, Centre for Continuing Education (CCE), IIT Mandi, said, “The Centre for Continuing Education (CCE) is delighted to hold the camp. Students will get the opport ty to learn from experienced mentors.” “IIT Mandi is attempting to make our society conversant by preparing the young generation tech savvy for contributing in nation-building in the long run,” Jain said. Top 100 selected students will learn: Basic Electronics including, microcontrollers, basics of electronics, using sensors, using DC motor, stepper motor and servo motor with microcontroller, network, and Internet of Things (IoT), Wifi and Bluetooth. Basic Programming with basics of any programming language (data types, operators, basic math, conditional statements, loops, functions). Introduction to C++/Python with reference to programming a microcontroller. They will learn to use TinkerCAD to get familiar with programming controllers and the basics of Linux. Fundamentals of Machine Learning and AI that will teach students essential applications like object detection, image segmentation, etc. Introduction to Jetson Platform, use of NVIDIA Jetson Nano to use Machine Learning models like YOLO, ResNet, etc. with no prior knowledge of AI. The summer camp will be conducted in two stages. In stage one: there will be a mentorship-based program by faculties and students. In stage two, students will get to develop innovative projects. All participants will get certificates upon completion of the training program. Additionally, a competition will be held based on which top three projects will be awarded. There is no fee for this camp. The students will be provided with hands-on kits assembled at IIT Mandi. CSS ING
