Thakur launches TEJAS program in Dubai

Mumbai, March 27 : on Minister for Information and Broadcasting and Youth Affairs and Sports Anurag Thakur on Sunday launched the TEJAS program in Dubai. Training for Emirates Jobs And Skills (TEJAS), a Skill India International project, is aimed at skilling, certification and overseas employment of Indians. The program is also aimed at creating pathways to enable Indian workforce to get equipped for skill and market requirements in UAE. Addressing the audience at the launch, the minister said, “India has a youthful population. The youth are the largest stakeholder in both nation building and image building.” Thakur further said that the government’s focus is to skill this population and provide the world with a large skilled workforce from India. TEJAS aims at creating a 10,000 strong Indian workforce in UAE during the initial phase. Meanwhile, MoUs were signed between National Skills Development Council and EFS, Dulsoc, AIQU, FutureMilez, Lulu International Exchange, EDI and Prime Health Group, at the India Pavillion. “The MoU is expected to facilitate the economic and management support of the TEJAS program,” the ministry said in a statement. Thakur, who was on a two day visit to Dubai, also held a series of discussions with industry leaders from the film and entertainment space in India and UAE. During the discussions, Thakur noted that the media and entertainment (M&E) sector takes the face of new India to the world. Stating that India has a competitive market in M&E space, the minister said, “Made in India content is being taken around the world for eight decades. We are not lagging behind in new technology in the M&E sector considering our post production capabilities and talent.” Speaking about the animation, visual effects, gaming, and comics (AVGC), Thakur said this new AVGC sector has brought new opport ties to India. “We are looking forward to partnerships between India and UAE to create better content and in other areas of cooperation,” the minister said adding that there is huge potential in archives sector and that the Indian government has a lot of film archives which it plans to share for revenue generation.
