Hamirpur (HP), March 27 : The state government organised a cycle race for children and also took out a Prabhat Bheri on Sunday, to observe Poshan fortnight (fourth National Nutrition Fortnight), a campaign, seeking to make people aware of proper nutrition and health. The programme was organised by the Department of Health, in active cooperation with the Child development project of the Welfare department, said Child Development Project Officer Kuldeep Singh Chauhan, who also marked his presence in these rallies. He said the Poshan Abhiyaan has set a target of reducing malnutrition and low birth weight in children by two per cent and Anemia by three per cent annually, making it a mass movement for good nutrition in the country. Through these events, efforts were being made to create awareness about nutrition and health and change behaviour by awakening the human, soulful and developmental feelings in the public, added the CDPO. He said during the Poshan Pakhwada, the department has prepared a large series of awareness programmes and more and more people were being connected to them, adding that people were ensuring their participation in large numbers in these programmes.
