Addu City (Maldives), March 27 : External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Sunday joined Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih at the inauguration of the National College for Policing and Law Enforcement, built with Indian assistance. Jaishankar said the NCPLE, one of India’s largest grant funded projects in the Maldives, will be the hub for a modern police force in the atoll nation in the coming years. An MoU was also signed between the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SV PA) that trains officers of the Indian Police Service, and the Maldives Police Force to help it boost the NCPLE’s capacities and make it into a regional centre of excellence. “An honour to join President @ibusolih at the inauguration of National College for Policing & Law Enforcement (NCPLE) at Addu. “Congratulate Government & people of Maldives on successful completion of NCPLE-a shining symbol of #IndiaMaldives growing cooperation. “One India’s largest grant funded project in the Maldives, it will be the hub for a modern Police force in the years to come. “NCPLE will serve to strengthen the traditions of exchanges and training between the Police forces of Maldives and India. “MoU signed today between @sv pahyd and Maldives Police Force will grow NCPLE’s capacities and help it become a regional centre of excellence. “Will also support the upgradation of police infrastructure across #Maldives through an additional initiative,” he said in tweets.
