Delhi govt lying about GDP growth: Cong

New Delhi, March 26 : Congress on Saturday slammed the Arvind Kejriwal government over the GDP numbers released during its Budget Session and alleged Delhi has registered lowest growth under the Aam Aadmi Party’s tenure. “There can be no bigger lie than this,” said Ajay Maken, who is the general secretary of the party. He took to Twitter and slammed the AAP national convenor, saying, “Kejriwal said 50 pc of GDP has increased in the last 5 years, never in any state in India till date!” On Wednesday, Delhi Lieutenant Governor Anil Bajial, while addressing the assembly, said that Delhi’s GDP went up by 50 per cent since 2016-17, indicating Delhi’s “economy is in a strong position”. The Congress leader then shared the GDP numbers of the Congress and AAP, juxtaposing the figures from 2007–14 to 2014–22, and alleging “the lowest growth rate during their (AAP’s) tenure. “The lowest GSDP growth occurred during the tenure of AAP. GDP grew by 147.63pc in seven years from 2007-08 to 2013-14, and from 2014-15 to 2021-22, reduced to 67.75pc!” Maken tweeted. The Lt. Governor had said, “In 2021-22, Delhi’s Gross State Domestic Product (calculated) on current prices was Rs 9,23,967 crore and in the last five years, it grew by 50 per cent as compared to Rs 6,16,085 crore in 2016-17.” “This shows the strong position of Delhi’s economy,” he said. Later, Leader of Opposition Ramvir Singh Bidhuri termed the LG address a “bundle of lies readout of compulsion based on white lies of the AAP government”. JA ING
