Signed Telangana budget though not invited to address Budget session : LG

Puducherry, March 8 : Lt.Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan on Tuesday said that even though she, as the Governor of Telangana was not invited to address the budget session of the assembly, which began on Monday, has signed the budget considering the welfare of the people. Speaking at the International Women’s Day function here, Soundararajan said widespread speeches are there about the liberation and rights of women. But in Telangana, a Woman Governor was not invited to address the budget session and the budget was presented in the house without the Governor’s address, she said. The reason cited for this is that the Assembly was only adjourned and not prorogued, she added. The LG said that ”the budget could be presented without the Governor’s address, but the budget will not be valid as per constitutional act without the signature of the Governor.” There was apprehension whether the Governor will sign it or not, Soundararajan said, by giving priority to the welfare of the people, she signed the budget the same evening itself. Similarly, she is signing the files sent by Puducherry Chief Minister N Rangaswamy by also giving priority to the welfare of the people of UT, she added. She said women are yet to get their rights fully and added that they should come up in life further. As rights on property was given to women, priority was given to them in starting industries. Women should capitalize this and come forward to start industries, the LG said. Women should be financially empowered, she added. MORE PAB CS1357
