Panaji, March 8 : Ahead of counting of votes polled in the assembly elections held on February 14, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant left for New Delhi on Tuesday. He was accompanied by BJP Goa t President Sadanand Shet Tanavade. According to sources, he is likely to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The party has expressed confidence of coming back to power in the state once again. According to sources, senior leaders of the party are in touch with leaders of Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) and independents to seek their support in case the party falls short of the majority mark of 21 seats. However, MGP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Sudin Dhavalikar has recently said that the party would not support BJP if Pramod Sawant was made chief minister. Ahead of 2017 assembly elections, MGP had distanced itself from the BJP and contested assembly elections in alliance with Goa Suraksha March (GSM) but later extended support to the Manohar Parrikar-led government. It is Sawant’s first visit to the national capital after the assembly elections. BJP has contested all the 40 seats in this assembly elections. Counting of votes in Goa is to be held on March 10.
